Two weeks of spring break.  Two weeks.  Two looooong weeks.  Still writing, but there are more interruptions.

My nephew, Peter Davidson, has finished basic training and waits on his assignment.  We are extremely proud of him.  He’s a special young man.  Good work, Kathy and Paul.

We suffered our first loss, and looked pretty shaky doing so, at least in the early going.  We got down 10 -1, and might have been mercied, but we made a furious comeback in the last inning, and only lost 10-7.  If you’re going to lose, that’s the way to lose, because our team felt like they won, with that comeback.  Very exciting, and it might still be going on.  The last out was a line drive SHOT, a really well-hit ball, but directly at the second baseman who made the catch.

Here we go again, let’s go play some baseball.

Talking smack to a 12 year old

Posted in Thoughts on March 18th, 2010 by David Fuller

How do you tell the opposing coach, an adult, that talking smack to a 12 year old when he’s pitching is, perhaps, poor sportsmanship?  It’s a kid’s game, right?  Right?

Intentional walks

Posted in Thoughts on March 17th, 2010 by David Fuller

They’re walking him.  6 home runs in four games, but now they’re walking him.  And it backfired.  They walked him to start the fourth inning and he got mad.  Got the rest of the team riled up.  Started stealing bases, forcing the issue.  They were down 4 to 0, scored 3 in that inning.  Next inning, he came up after his brother opened the inning with a double, next batter walked.  They intentionally walked Tom to load them up with nobody out.  We scored 5 in the inning.  Dumb coaching by the other guy.

Hey, let the kids play.

Fun article in SM Mirror about Little League baseball. Includes our buddy Cody Decker. We’ve played two more games, and Tom is at 6 HRs. http://www.smmirror.com/MainPages/DisplayArticleDetails. asp?eid=12126

There’s the problem with Astronomy Picture of the Day. It changes. Every day. So if you go to the link I put in yesterday, it will not give you the picture that I greeted with “wow.” Not that today’s picture sucks. But it wasn’t as astonishing as yesterday’s. Whattayagonnado?
Hi Mom!

Every year I promise myself that I’m not going to watch, I’m not going to care.  Every year I break that promise.  Look what the Bears did in free agency.  I’m sucked back in.  I have hope again.  Now I’m hoping they’ll find a safety, a couple of offensive linemen, maybe a veteran receiver.  Whatadope.

And then there’s the White Sox.  Mr. President, do you have hope?  Look at their starting pitching.  Pretty darn decent.  And I like Ozzie’s small ball.  I can’t help it, it’s exciting.  Doggone it, I have to keep writing this book, I can’t take time off to follow the Sox on the internet!

Doggone it.

Hey, they won again today.  Cool, huh?
