Bobby Fischer

A seriously undervalued film is SEARCHING FOR BOBBY FISCHER.  Not only is it brilliantly cast, not only is the screenplay seriously fine, but the way it all comes together is just sensational.  You want a tuna fish sandwich?  I’m going to get you a tuna fish sandwich.  Lawrence Fishburne AND Sir Ben Kingsley?  As rivals?  How can you get any better than that?  FEARLESS and SEARCHING FOR BOBBY FISCHER, a viewer could go crazy with happiness.  Steve Zaillian, your table is ready.

    Aloha Dave~
I love the part of the movie when Max’s parents, Bruce and Vinnie are watching the match on the the TV, and Vinnie yells “That’s it!” and nobody know what he is talking about.
Now, I have to use one of my Barnes and Noble gift cards to purchase the DVD.
A couple more weeks of vacation…….see you around.
    Love,
    Joan

I also love the part, right in that same section, where Bruce mutters “Don’t move until you see it.” What a great movie. Yes, we’ll soon be back at school. I’m looking forward to it, and I think so are the boys.

In the cast notes on IMDB, William H. Macy is listed as
    “Tunafish Father”! Too good.

I think I knew that once, but I had forgotten. More reasons to like the movie.
