You get things stuck in your mind a certain way.  I mean, I really did read all the information about the Honor Band Christmas concert to be given at the local elementary schools — the prodigies return to their former schools and impress them with their astounding prowess, all brought about in a scant three months of work, oh my goodness.  I had it pictured the way it had been when they went to Astro Camp (now there’s a story).  Drop them off early to catch the bus.  But of course, we were dropping them at McKinley Elementary, which is on Santa Monica Boulevard, which is busy at all times of the day, not just at 7:40 in the morning.  But my intelligent wife, who has also read all the material, seems to understand something that I don’t.  I’m actually trying to guide her in our journey, but she takes us a back way, finds a parking lot, drops them there, and they follow other kids INTO the building.  Wait a minute, thinks Dad, where are the buses to take them to the elementary schools?  Uh, Dave?  THIS is the first elementary school.  This one right here, the one we have reached, the one at which they are to give the first concert.  There is no bus until later, to take them to the next school.  Begin here.
