I heartily welcome you to my website.  In the coming months, I hope we will enjoy a rousing dialogue.  I am sure I will have too much to say about writing, reading, and history.  But this blog is likely to be driven by you, the visitor, in your thoughts and questions. 

I expect to be writing a new book, but plan to spend time each day talking about SWEETSMOKE right here.  As difficult a subject as it was, I did enjoy writing the novel.  It is a difficult piece of work to let go.  It will be my pleasure to continue to talk about it.
